Tagore González

Tagore is a clarinetist, composer, stage creator, and educator whose interdisciplinary practice bridges sound experimentation with clarinet and electronics, stage works driven by sound as a narrative force, and composition for theatre and film.

He earned his degree in clarinet performance at Musikene, Basque Country Higher Music Centre, completed postgraduate studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, and holds a Master´s degree in Cultural Management from the University of Alcalá.

While collaborating with leading national symphony orchestras, his interest in other artistic disciplines and in staging his own concerts led him, in 2006, to create the Cre.Art Ensemble with Guillermo Laporta. With this project, they toured Spain, presenting musicians and contemporary music on stage in dialogue with contemporary dance and video art. This pursuit of stage research continued through the creation and direction of several productions that question the boundaries between concert, performance, and theatrical work, exploring the limits of the musician on stage and their relationship with space: Yo, Piano (Festival Periferias – Huesca and Auditorio de El Escorial) or Fiesta/Siesta/Fiesta (Sala Hiroshima – Barcelona and Naves Matadero – Madrid). Continuing his exploration of stage work, Tagore created and directed the dance-theater performance El abismo de los pájaros.

In musical creation, his most personal sound project explores processed clarinets and electronics. The project released its first album, Vuori, in June 2022 and is currently working on a second album, scheduled for 2026, in collaboration with composer and creative A. Crespo Barba.

He also composes music for stage productions: Tanatología (Dir.: Carlota Ferrer, Teatro Principal de Palma, 2022), El beso de la mujer araña (Dir.: Carlota Ferrer, Teatro Bellas Artes de Madrid, 2022), Los nadadores diurnos (Dir.: Carlota Ferrer, Naves del Español, 2023), Tiresias (Dir.: Carlota Ferrer, Festival de Teatro Clásico de Mérida, 2024), Vendrán los alienígenas y tendrán tus ojos (Dir.: María Velasco, Nave 10 Matadero, 2025), Las Troyanas (Dir.: Carlota Ferrer, Festival de Teatro Clásico de Mérida, 2025), Memorias de Adriano (Dir.: Beatriz Jaén, Festival de Teatro Clásico de Mérida, 2025), Mantener fuera del alcance de los niños (Dir.: María Velasco, Teatro de La Abadía, 2026) as well as music for the dance performance Merina by Paul Oteyza (Mira Teatro, 2023). For the audiovisual sector, he created the soundtracks for the video-dance piece Un Cuerpo Es (Dir.: Jaime Dezcallar), Salvo el Crepúsculo (Dir.: Mario Hernández), and the 2023 feature film Amanece (Dir.: Juan Francisco Viruega).

For nine years, he taught at the University School of Arts TAI in Madrid, serving for two years as Director of the Faculty of Performing Arts, Music, and Dance. He has taught undergraduate students in Musical Composition, Performing Arts, Film, Photography, and Fine Arts, as well as students in the Diploma in Music Creation and Production, including subjects such as Creation and the Latest Avant-Garde, Sound Design and Music Composition for the Stage, or Interdisciplinary Creation Labs. Through these courses, he created spaces for experimentation, development, and hybridization of the arts through performative, installation, and sound projects.
